The Band

When the forces of nature are such that a streaking flash of electrostatic energy can dance it's way down from the sky to make contact with the earth, it's a rare occasion. For Mother Nature to perform that trick twice in the same spot, science dictates, is virtually impossible - the lottery holds better odd.

Someone forgot to mention this to SEVENTH VEIL.

Guitarist's Mark Stroface & Albert Salazar, bassist John Cruz, drummer Scott Crawford and vocalist Robert Babina started SEVENTH VEIL some ten years ago. From the onset, this group set out to become talented musicians first, then rcck stars. That initial period, which spanned eight years, proved to be invaluable for them, making them a solid band, and near-inseparable friends. They had found the elusive lightning bolt.

In 1993, the band had finally reached a level of skill and confidence they were satisfied with, and were ready to record an album and hit the road.

Fate however, had different plans. In April '93, Salazar left the band to pursue other projects, and in January '94, vocalist Robert Babina lost his life to leukemia, leaving his bandmates with empty hearts and disconcerted minds. Most bands, understandably, would have thrown in the towel at this point, content to believe that it simply was not ment to be. SEVENTH VEIL, however, took exception to fate's plans for them, and with Babina's friendship and dedication as inspiration, trudged on.

The band spent about a year regrouping after the tragedy, focusing their attention on writing and continuing to develop themselves as musicians. Through this, there was still the problem of filling the void left by Babina and Salazar. That was until April '95 when they hooked up with guitarist Jimmy Adcock and vocalist James Arnett. From the initial meeting, the fit was perfect. SEVENTH VEIL had accomplished the impossible; they had beat nature's odds again, and once more they felt the electric jolt.

Six months later, they recorded their 6 song ep, "PRIMER", which received great reviews, both locally, nationally (METAL EDGE Dec. '96) as well as in worldwide fanzines in Germany, France and Italy. This, in turn, helped them gain many new fans around the globe.

Now the group has released it's first full length CD "RUBBER AMERICA", full of 13 powerhouse tunes that are destined to help them acheive more worldwide recognition and make them one of the premier rock & roll bands of '98.

The guitar duo of Stroface and Adcock draw their inspiration from other notable duel six-string bands of the past and present such as THIN LIZZY, AEROSMITH, QUEENSRYCHE and MEGADETH, giving them a rich, orchestrated sound full of harmonies and colorful textures as well as awe inspiring lead passages that rival the greats of the genre'.

The rhythm machine of Cruz and Crawford combine "in-the-pocket" groves a'la the CHILI PEPPERS with the technical abilities of RUSH, allowing them to make difficult rhythms sound easy and vice versa.

Rounded out by Arnett's visual storytelling ability and memorable melodies, SEVENTH VEIL has refused to follow any current trends, choosing to stay true to the original spirit of rock & roll. Be yourself and follow your soul. By doing this, they've created what Harder Beat magazine calls "an unusual blend of 90's progressive rock, gritty Delta blues and 70's style Southern rock. A sound that is truly unique."
