7/10/05 The East Texas Weekend!

The past week of shows were great. We had a total blast hanging and jamming with our buds in Junior last Friday night. Hopefully this will be the first of many shows with these guys. They are definitely one of the best Live bands you will see and put on a fun and entertaining Rock show.

Saturday was great as well getting to play with Tri-Theory. Both shows had great turnouts considering it was a big holiday weekend.

We are looking forward to our return trip to East Texas in a few weeks when we return to Legends in Longview. Should be a great show. We hope to see a lot of our new friends there.

6/26/05 New Tunes and East Texas Shows

On top of everything else, we are working on a couple of new tunes ("Sugar Coat" and "Man I Used to Be") that we hope to either debut this weekend at the Tyler show or at least by the 22nd show at Legends in Longview. They sound great so far and we look forward to everyone hearing them. This will put us at or around 14 songs for the CD and we still have a few others on the back-burner so it may come down to having our friends and fans help us decide which ones make the final cut.

For all of our friends out in East Texas, don't forget about or show in Longview this Friday July 1st with our longtime pals, JUNIOR as well as the show the next night July 2nd in Tyler at Clicks with our buds Tr-Theory.

6/24/05 Cabo Wabo Contest Results

Congratulations to the band Fame 15 for advancing to the second round of the Cabo Wabo battle of the bands!

It was a great bill and a great night of Real Rock & Roll for a change. No Post-Punk-Hardcore-Holocaust-EMO-Alterna-Thrash Garbage. Just solid Rock & Roll.

We want to thank the sponsers of the Cabo contest for choosing us to participate and Club Clearview for having us. We hope to play there again soon.

Check out the Message board for a full show report.

6/19/05 Cabo Wabo Contest

We have just been informed that we have been selected to particiapte in the 2005 Sammy Hagar / Cabo Wabo Battle of the Bands with the winning band getting to open for the Red Rocker at his annual birthday bash in October in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico!

Here are the rules:

Bands will be judged by industry professionals including music editors, bookers, agents, and venue managers – and winning bands will be decided by both the panel as judges as well as fan’s votes at the show. There will be three rounds to the competition – the first round will last eight (8) weeks and the top three bands in each market will move on to the second round. After that, the top band in each market – a total of seven bands – will move on to the third round as a local Cabo Wabo Band Ambassador and will be invited to join Sammy and his friends in Cabo San Lucas to compete in the final round at Sammy’s Birthday Bash in October. The final winner will be chosen by a panel of judges in Cabo San Lucas.

We are very excited about this opportunity, win or loose.

Our first round competition will be this coming Thursday, June 23rd at Club Clearview in Deep Ellum. Check the tour dates page for direcions.

4/24/05 Graffiti's Gig

Well....as the norm...it wouldn't be a real gig without a crisis thrown in somewhere along the way!

We received a call yesterday afternoon from Louie Shoop, our friend who does the booking and runs the sound and bands at Graffiti's and he informed us that his girlfriend's appendix exploded yesterday morning and that he was rushing her to the hospital for emergency surgery and that he thought he was going to have to cancel the show for the night since there would be no one there to set up and run sound. We were able to convince him that our man Keith could handle the situation and after a few phone calls and and a half hour of panic we were able ot get Keith in touch with Louie and get things worked out so the show could go on.

The obvious dissipointing part aside from the bad news about Louie's girl was the fact that it was Louie's band that was supposed to be playing with us and Tri-Theory last night. We haven't seen Louie in a long time and we were all excited about him hearing the new material and getting to hang out with him for a while.

We made it to the show with no vehicular malfunctions this time and got everything set up and ready and only had to push the start time of the sets back 15 minutes.

First things first....The Club...Louie has done an AMAZING job with this place. We didn't even recognize the place when we walked in. We did two shows here with David a year and a half ago and the place has had a complete facelift. The stage has been moved and is now three times as big as it was. There is now several rows of long tables and plenty of chairs for the crowd to sit and enjoy the bands without obstructions whereas before you had to look over pool tables and across the bar to see the stage unless you were standing directly in front of it.

This is now one of the nicest venues we've had the opportunity to play in around here. We hope to build a steady and regular crowd here and really look forward to playing at Graffiti's again in May.

Before the show a guy walked over and asked if I was the guitar player from Seventh Veil and introduced himself as Matt Eaton from Spittin' Jonah. I then recognized him and was excited to see a friendly face. We played a few shows with Spittin' Jonah about four years ago at Louie's old club, The Gusher, which was right down the road from this place. I briefly filled him in on the band situation and explained that I was actually still with Seventh Veil although we were RadioKing with a new singer and the Seventh Veil singer was now in Tri-Theory who was also playing with us (RadioKing) tonight. It obviously was a bit confusing trying to sum up our three year soap opera with a few finger points to who was who but he seemed to get it. haha

We sat and talked guitar for a while before Tri-Theory took the stage. Matt is an incredible guitarist and I urge you to check out his site for some really awesome sound clips and video clips from his recent performance at the Dallas Guitar Show a few weeks ago.

Matt Eaton

We swapped CD's as I gave him a copy of our 3 song sampler disc we made up for the show and I had an extra copy of my instrumental CD with me as well and he went out and got me a copy of Spittin' Jonah's new 2005 CD which I am anxious to listen to this evening when I get a chance.

Tri-Theory was now ready to hit the stage and they did an amazing set. The sound was awesome for the whole show. Thanks in equal part to Louie having some great gear and Keith for doing what he loves and does best. I am so looking forward to all the shows we have booked down the road with the Tri- Theory guys. Not only is it great kicking back and listening to them but it's great hanging out with them post show. It's a little weird sitting there watching Jim on stage with someone else after all of those years of playing side by side with him but it's great too because we get to see just how great of a singer and front man he really is from a third party perspective. I am so proud of him for getting this together with Steve and Spencer over the past few years and continuing to kick ass as only Jim could. These guys are so great.

After a short set change we took the stage and overall, I felt the set went really well. We're obviously still working out a few kinks in the material which is only normal for this being the second gig and only having been an actual full band now for just over two months. Things have been a whirl-wind and it's wild realizing that we just tore thru a 12 song set and looked at each other questioning if thats all we had and was the set really over already? Each song feels to have a life and personality of it's own and its a complete rush being on stage again after all this time. It's definitely the drug I can't shake.

Thanks to everyone who came out to support us and for the great response. Please feel free to leave your thoughts on the Message Board and let us know what you think about the new tunes.

Next up is the Big Texas Guitar Festival which I can't even tell you how excited I am to play at this thing. It has always been dream for me to play at a Guitar show in front of a million other guitar players. (ok...maybe there won't be a million there...but I can guarantee there to be at least 10 or so guitar players in the vacinity when we do our set...I hope..haha!)

Peace to all!

Jimmy

4/12/05 Success in the Midst of dissaster (the Weekend in Review)

Well...the weekend is over and the first RadioKing show with Lex is in the books. Now before the title of this thread misleads anyone, the show itself, performance wise went great. No major flaws and a great debut for Lex and a really fun reunion with Jim doing the old Seventh Veil material.

Now...with that out of the way...that was the ONLY thing that went well the whole weekend.

Saturday started off decent enough. We all met at my house at 2:30 to load the trailer and get an early start so we wouldn't be rushed when we got to the club. It's only 150 miles to the venue so about 2 1/2 hours would suffice in drive time pulling the trailer. We left shortly after 3 pm and headed East with Myself, Scott and Keith in my truck and Lex, John and Mark in his car following us.

About an hour later, there was some strange noises coming from under my hood. An unfamiler, faint knocking of a lifter that started just as we headed up a hill. Next the check engine light comes on and the oil pressure gauge drops to zero. Not good. We pulled over and popped the hood, checked everything out and let the truck sit for a few minutes before re-cranking it and everything sounded normal again. Gauges all ok. Possibly just a fluke and a minor strain? We hoped and decided to take it easy on any enclines just in case.

Fast forwards about twenty miles later. Another hill, truck was in cruise control. Just as we started up the hill, the truck over-revved and down-shifted to compensate for the strain of the hill and the knocking was back. But this time louder...and you could feel it this time. We started pulling over to the side of the road and by the time we slowed to a stop the engine was banging and smoke was pouring out of the hood. Again..not the best sign.

We popped the hood again and smoke was pouring out of every oraface. It's now 5 pm and the ample time we had allowed ourself when we left just got a whole lot smaller. We're screwed. Didn't take long for everyone to ge on their cell phones and start making frantic calls. My Dad lives in Longview so I was able to get ahold of him to let him know what happened and see if he could come get us. We were still about 50 miles from the club. The other guys got ahold of Jimi from Tri-Theory who was already close to the club to unload their gear. He made a few calls and called us back and said he has a friend that lived close to where we were broke down that was on his way to pick up the trailer and get it to the club for us and that as soon as they were finished unloading, he would head back to his house and get his car trailer to come get the truck.

Half an hour later, It's 6 PM, Jims frind Keith Palmer showed up and within minutes had the trailer hooked up and headed out with the other guys minus myself and Scott to head to the venue and get things set up. It was an hour after that when my dad showed up and we both waited until Jimi was able to get there. The plan was to now hook up the flatbed trailer Jimi was bringing to my Dads truck and the pull my truck up onto it so Jimi could head back to the club and I could get the truck to my Dads house and not leave it stranded out in the middle of nowhere.

Scott and myself have now been standing on the side of the freeway for two hours. Scott's neck is sunburned and we've exhausted all of our goofy jokes and Spinal Tap comparisons trying to make light of this dark situation and myslef, trying not to think about all the crap I'm faced with now having blown up my engine and am now without a vehicle.

7 pm. Jimi arrives with the trailer and dropped it from his and hooked it onto my dads truck and what was already a major undertaking got even harder when the come-alongs he had were both not working properly and getting tangled as they were trying to pull the slack from them to hook them under my front end. About twenty minutes later, the truck was finally hooked up and with the help of everyone there and Jimi working the come-along by himself and showing the strength of the Incredible Hulk, we were able to finally get my truck onto the flatbed.

7:30...Scott takes off with Jimi and my dad with me and we are now en-route to the club. We arrive about 8:30 and stay long enough to make sure everything is set up and verify the set times. Tri-Theory starts at 10 so I have enough time to head back to my dads and drop off my truck and make it back to the club. Our trailer was in the parking lot and I now would need my Dads truck to pull it after the gig.

We arrive back at the club at 9:50. Ten minutes to spare.

You would think we had faced enough adversity for one day but no...wiat theres more!!!!

As we've been faced with many times in the past...you only sound as good as the person running sound and unfortunantly, the person origianally slated to run sound for us had another obligation and we were left with someone we didn't know and neither band received any form of a Soundcheck. Keith (our soundguy) helped out as much as he could but without being familer with the board or the person who owned it, there was only so much he could do to help out.

The sound out front was halfway decent but the stage mix was awful.

Tri-Theory sounded great considering these circumstances. This was the first time I had gotten to see them and I was blown away by how good they sounded and how great their material was. Even more impressed with how Jimi handled himself both fronting the band and played bass at the same time.

They rocked out for about an hour and twenty minutes.

Pretty decent crowd by this time too. Not the most responsive but at least there were people in the seats.

We do a quick set change and as I am standing there, just having tuned up my guitars, I hear the DJ / soundguy ask if we were ready. I nodded and said yes, thinking he was asking if we were ready for a line / sound check. Next thing I know, the lights go down and he's introducing us!! WTF!!!!! Not even a level check to make sure the guitars are at the same volume and we can hear each other. Crap.

Scott counts us off and it's on. I can't hear crap. Just my guitar and Scott's drums. I have to look over at Lex to make sure he's actually singing and didn't develope last second stage fright and freeze up! I could not hear a single word he was singing but his lips were moving so I assumed he was.

I couldn't hear Mark or John at all either. Now all I'm left to do is just count and make sure I'm playing my part correctly. This went on for a good half the set before we could finally hear some vocals in the moniter. We can only thank each other for all the rehearsing we did leading up to this show for it not becoming a complete train wreck. We actually played extremly tight and had no real missed cues. People seemed to dig it and we got a good cheer from the crowd by the end of our hour long set. Lex did amazingly well for his First show Ever.

We took a ten minute break and Jimi joined us on stage and we tore thru the old Seventh Veil material with a fire that hadn't been lit in a good while. The songs were very energetic and it felt great to play thru material that had become so familier and ordinary over the years and have it feel fresh and vibrant again like they did when we first wrote them. Got a lot of cheers from many of our old friends and fans as they heard song after song that they recognized.

We ended the set and had time for one more song for which we were joined by Steve and Spencer from Tri-Theory for a rocking rendition of the classic Jam tune "Going Down". We had our own little G3 thing going with myself, Mark and Steve on guitars and Jimi and Lex sharing vocals, Spencer on drums and Scott tearing up the tamborine. (we tried to find a cowbell for him explore the space with but were unsuccessful). The song went great aside from one minor malfunction when I went to walk around Steve and got tangled in our guitar cords and next thing I knew, my whole rig tipped over and slammed onto the stage. Great..just what I needed to end the night with! Maybe it looked like I meant to do that. I finish the song with a great air guitar lead since my stuff was face first on the stage and cords hanging everywhere.

As soon as we finished, I lifted my cabinet and rack back up and plugged everything back in and checked to make sure it still worked. Luckily (can I use that word after all thats happened today??) It still worked!!! I should probably open up the Power amp and make sure all the tubes are still in place.

The night is over and the rest of the weekend faces me. (You mean there's more??)

An overall fairly successful first gig that definitely had more Spinal Pap moments than we had anticipated but all in the life of a working band. At least we didn't arrive at the club and get lost on the way to the stage and find out we were actually opening for a puppet show or something.

Sunday was spent making two complete trips from my dads house and back to Dallas and back again getting the band trailer returned and getting my dads truck back to him. About 700 miles total and close to 10 hours driving altogether.

In the end, with all the dissaster that befell upon us, we really have a lot to be thankful for. You can't discount having some great friends and family come thru for you in a pinch and we really owe a lot to Jimi and his friend Keith who we had never even met before for bailing us out when it was crunch time.

As of this point, on Monday morning, I am still without a vehicle and without a real solid plan on the path to take to get one before our next gig in two weeks. I'll get it worked out somehow and we'll hopefully be concerned with nothing else come the Graffiti's show other than blowing some asses out.

3/08/05 Two New Show Dates

Just added to new showdates with Tri-Theory in April and May at Graffiti's in Dallas, Tx. These will be warm-up shows as we ramp up into some other road dates in the near future. A great friend of ours named Loiue Shoop is running the place now and used to run a club called The Gusher that we used to play at a lot and was very excited to have us back there along with Jim's new band.

He informed us that Donna, a long time waitress that worked with him passed away recently from a brain tumor. He said that we (Seventh Veil) were her favorite band that ever played there and she still listened to the CD up until she passed away. We are greatly saddend by this news and plan to dedicate our set to her when we play.

Set time for both nights is Tri Theory from 9:30 - 10:30 and RadioKing 11:00 - 12:00.

We'll keep you posted on more news to come. Check the message board for the daily low down.

2/22/05 Second RadioKing Show Confirmed!

Yep....It's true. We now have a second show confirmed thanks to the help of Steve from Tri-Theory . We along with Tri-Theory and our good friend and Acoustic Guitar Extrordianire, Michael Earhart will be performing at the Texas Guitar Festival in Tyler, Texas on Sunday May 15. We will each be performing a 40 minute set with other acts to be named later.

This is a great opportunity to rock out with a bunch of other great musicians and check out tons of cool guitars and gear all in the beautiful surroundings of East Texas.

The festival will be at Harvey Hall in downtown Tyler. We will post more info as we get it as far as set times etc.

2/20/05 NEW DEMOs WITH LEX

We kept predicting that once we found The right singer that things would start moving pretty quick and here we are, less than one week after welcoming Lex into the RK family, we have two new demos up on the Media page for you to check out and give us your feedback on. Please let us know what you think.

We actually have five songs already demoed and eight written including two the Lex wrote that we took and reworked the guitar parts and gave them the RK stamp. We may add more of these to the media page in the future but we think these two will give everyone a taste of what is to come.

Keep checking back as the wheels are now in motion!

2/16/05 FINALLY!!!!!!!!!

As you know from the front page of the site....After over two years of searching under every rock this side of West Texas, We have finally found THE GUY to fill the vocal / frontman roll!

His name is Lex Jamison and you can read all about him very soon in the bio section.

It has been an exhaustive and sometimes frustrating time going thru so many people and not finding the right chemistry in all areas. Almost everyone that came out during that time gave it 100% and many really wanted to be a part of our family but we had to be brutally honest with them as well as ourselves and make sure that we were making the right decision on all counts and not just "settle".

During those two years, we were open to just about ANY possibilty and wanted to try as many different things as we could so we would really Know when the right person came along. We had several female singers we worked with for a while to give that a whirl but it prooved to be to difficult to find a girl who really wanted to ROCK. We certainly have no probelm writing some slower songs now and then but we are a Guitar driven Rock band and there is no way we can hide that. We worked with all different styles and backgrounds. Metal, Nu_Metal, poppy Matchbox 20 types....trying out everything in hopes of finding that perfect chemistry. We had many good singers tell us that they thought that we were just to Heavy.... TOO HEAVY????...hmmm...last I remembered, I didn't think our music drew any comparisons to Slipknot or Slayer or anything. Is mainstream music really that watered down that anything with a crunchy, driving guitar and a kick ass solo here or there considered to Heavy??? Well if it is...GOOD! Cause we ain't changing anyway! We will always carry the ROCK & ROLL Freak Flag high and really Play our instruments. (as long as our drummer doesn't hit the wrong sample button!)

Towards the end of 2004, responses to our adds had slowed considerably and we started to wonder if we had went thru every single person in Texas that was looking for a band. We saw a doccumentary on Velvet Revover around that time and saw all the trouble they went thru for over a year looking for "THE GUY". They're frustration began to show just as ours was but they hung in there and once Scott Weiland came along, they went thru a LOT to get him ready and make sure it was the right move. This certainly gave us a little hope although our search had stretched to about twice as long as theirs!

After exhausting almost ever means of advertising for a singer that we could think of, Mark was surfing around talentmatch.com one day and did a search for Texas singers and came across this guy named Lex who had some solo material posted and seemed from his comments to be a pretty young and eager vocalist with a lot of confidence and decent songs. On a whim, Mark shot him an e mail and asked him if he was looking for a band. Lex said he was and we sat up a time to have him come out. We had suddenly gotten four or five other calls around the same time. I guess people had just taken a break for the holidays and were finally looking again.

Out of the three guys that came out that following weekend, Lex by far had the Coolest personality. He actually exudes Chill Factor. His vocals wern't bad either but all we did was jam on a few cover songs to get a feel for each other. It wasn't until the following week when he came back with some lyrics to a few of our songs that we started to sense something was happening. Now he certainly wasn't the first guy to put lyrics to our songs. Over the past few years, we have probably had twenty different versions and lyrics to some of them to the point that we have to use code words for us to keep up with which tune is what. But there was something different about Lex. Not only were his lyrics very fresh and creative, plus he could actually SING, we noticed quickly that he really didn't have any limitations in his style. That was our biggest problem with most of the people that tried out. Our sound can be so varied from song to song, we would get someone who could totally kick-ass on the Heavy tunes and then their voice would drop about 20 db when it came time to actually SING a melodic passage. Others it was the exact opposite. We even joked around that we may have to go with two singers to be able to cover everything.

Well, after the second full rehersal we saw that Lex had no specific pattern of the originals of ours he was choosing to work on. A Heavy one, a Bluesy one, a Balled....He didn't shy away from any of them and came in swinging for the fence on all of them. His phrasing and lyrics are very unique, original and well beyond his 25 years of age.

That was the other clincher. His youth and excitment. This guy is a total ball of energy and cannot wait to get on stage and give the music world a kick in the ass.

Great vocals, great lyrics, great attitude and personality = THE GUY.

We are all very excited about the future and it will not be long now. We owe a lot of thanks and respect to bands like Black Label Society, Velvet Revolver, Saliva, AltersBridge, Paul Gilbert, the late great DimeBag and a few others who have kept it cool to ROCK and still be able to really play and we hope to be adding our name to that list soon. LOOK OUT!

2/16/05 FIRST SHOW WITH LEX (+ Seventh Veil reunion)

Yep.....Told you it wouldn't be long. We have already booked our first show with our new singer Lex.

The show is scheduled for Saturday April 9th in Longview, Tx at Legends Sports Bar.

This will not only be a special night because of that but we will be sharing the stage with our great friend and former Seventh Veil singer Jim Arnett and his new project Tri-Theory.

One reason we changed the band name from Seventh Veil to RadioKing was so we could keep the door open for any furture dates with Jim and to respect the legacy we had with Jim. He was the final and most influential chapter in the storied history of Seventh Veil. We shared over 8 years and Thousands of miles on the road with Jim and we kept the door open when we parted ways a few years ago for the possibility of jamming again in the future.

The future is now and not only will we be making the RadioKing debut with Lex and playing on the same bill with Jim's band but we will also be doing a set as Seventh Veil with Jim. SO you get three bands for the price of one and you get to see a good portion of our musical family tree! The old and the new.

This should be a great time for all and we hope to doccument it on film for future use.

Keep checking back for more details as they come.

Until then....Peace from the PowerCrib.

5/13/04 Update

Ok..ok..I know it's been a while and we promised to keep everyone updated. So here is an update.

We are currently working with someone and have been writing songs with them for a few months now. We are keeping it under wraps for the near future but will have an announcement pretty soon one way or the other. We want to make sure this will be the best situation for both parties involved.

We are working up enough material to go out and do a couple of low key gigs but we will post them on here and on the message board as soon as a date is settled on.

We encourage everyone to come out to check out the band and give us your opinions on the material and the lineup. We are very excited at the present but your opinions are just as important.

Sorry for being so vauge but again, we just want to make sure everything is done right this time.

Keep checking back and we will post some New NEWS soon!

Carry on...

3/27/04 Ft. Smith gig

Just rolled back into town form our weekend Ft. Smith gig. All is well other than the typical depression of a fun weekend coming to an end. Always a long drive home.

As far as the gig itself, it served it's purpose. We really needed to do a live show so we could get our new soundman, Keith an opportunity to work the gear in a real situation and not just at rehersal. We had a few minor technical problems Friday night due to our lights causing havok in our main speakers from being plugged into the same breaker. Took forever to find out that was the problem. Had to play the last set with the house lights on which wasn't the most pleasing thing to the people there playing pool but the rock crowd didn't mind much.

Keith and Scott went up early on Saturday and worked out all the problems and Saturday night went great.

We want to thank David for coming out and rocking the house on 'Follow Me Down' and 'Bad Luck'. Songs never sounded better and this with no rehersal.

e also want to thank so many of our loyal friends and fans for showing up and saying hey to us after not being there in two years. Becky and staff were as hospitable as always and we enjoyed catching up with everyone.

Hopefully we'll be able to come back at a future time. The door will always be open to other Seventh Veil gigs but for the immediate future, both Jim and us have other priorities with RadioKing and his group Tri-Theory.

1/24/04 SEVENTH VEIL Reforms for Two Shows!

For all of our fans and friends from the Seventh Veil era...we will be reuniting with vocalist Jim Arnett for as of now...Two Shows only in Ft. Smith, Arkansas on Friday and Saturday March 26th and 27th.

While we are continuing to audition and work with possible vocalist for RadioKing, we figured it would be fun to work up some new material and a new show to do a handfull of gigs for some of our best friends and fans.

We always had a great time at Shooters and feel everyone there is like extended family and what better place to perform together for the first time in Two Years than there.

Stay tuned for updates and news about this gig.

A possible warm up show is possible in the MetroPlex for all of our home town friends. We will keep you posted on that.

Till then, Peace and we'll see you soon!

12/23/03 Jimmy to appear on "Best of CD"

RadioKing guitarist Jimmy Adcock has had a song chosen to appear on the newly released "Best of Guitar War 2003" CD.

After an intense voting process by all members of the web-site community of Guitar War, a web site that allows guitarists from all over the world to compete against each other in friendly matches of instrumental tunes, Jimmy's song 'Down In Flames' was picked as one of the top 20 songs of the year out of hundreds of entries.

This is a great honor and again shows the diversity of the group outside the realm of the typical Rock Band criteria.

Jimmy wishes to thank the rest of the band for contributing the awesome backing of drums, bass and rhythm guitar to his composition.
