What more can be said about Eric? The guy is amazing! Flawless technique, endless flow of creativity and originality. I swear the guy has an extra note on his guitar that I can't find on mine!
The thing that I love most and can relate to the most with Eric is his love of many different styles of players and styles. The way he can go from sounding Clapton-esque to dead on Hendrix, Chet & Jerry Reed to almost straight on jazz, all the while making it sound so unique.
I find myself thinking that way when I am playing most of the time. Most of my ideas come from putting myself in a particular frame of mind. I may be thinking Clapton one second, Ace Frehley the next, Yngwie the next and even Eric Johnson the next. All forming what I hope is my own style as is Erics.
Still to this day, after veiwing it probably a thousand times, if I put on Eric's first instructional video, I find it impossible not to sit down and start playing at a higer level instantly just from watching him.
A true inspiration.
