Although it may not be that well known, I am a big fan of country guitar playing. Not the new 'cookie cutter' country stuff, but the old school 'chicken' pickin' thang.

Marty encompasses everything I love about pure country music. Great guitar playing, great songwriter and and a great performer as well. He stays true to the spirit set forth by the greats such as Hank Sr., Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Buck Owens etc and still pushes the envelope a bit to stay modern. Unfortunantly, he hasn't gotten the success he desrves because he dosen't conform to what is the 'in' thing.

The guy is also a phenominal mandolin player as well which is an instrument I've always wanted to learn to play but I don't feel I've reached my peak on guitar well enough to take up the amount of time it would take to become competant on mandolin.
